In 2005 RCT Play Association received funding from the Lottery to set up the Quality in Play project. The project aims were to develop and deliver non-accredited and accredited training opportunities to its 50+ members. The main focus of the project was the introduction of the First Claim self assessment process that would give organisations further
understanding of current best practice whilst promoting the rights of the child to play freely.
Since 2005 the project has grown from strength to strength having delivered training across RCT to over 700 playworkers and volunteers. In 2007 and 2008 the project participated in the pilot delivery of the new Level 2 Playwork qualification developed by Play Wales – Playwork Principles into practice (P3).
The project offers a variety of training opportunities to its members and partners that are underpinned by the National Occupational Standards.
