In 2003 Rhondda Cynon Taf developed 'Let the Children Play' A play strategy for Rhondda Cynon Taf which placed play on a more strategic footing. Since the implementation of "let the Children Play' their has been a number of new Strategies released that identify the importance of children's play and inform future developments within Play. Rhondda Cynon Taf have moved some way in achieving the aims set out within 'Let the Children Play'.

In 2008 it was identified by Fframwaith that a review of the current Play Strategy was needed. RCT Play Association has led the review as part of their work. A number of consultation events have been undertaken with children and young people, Play providers and key stakeholders. The results of these consultations have informed the document from the outset as well as being informed by recent policy and strategy development. It is hoped the Play Strategy will be launched in the autumn of 2010.
